Coaching Practice – How 90% of Coaches Fail

To get straight to the point, people don’t actually buy life coaching. They don’t know what it is.  If you have the words ‘life coach’ as your service, people generally don’t buy off you.

Here are 3 tips that turned my business around and helped me selling Coaching to the general public without them knowing they were seeing a ‘life coach’!!

1) 90% of Coaches fail because they fail to choose a niche. They don’t want to box their service off in case someone wants to come to them for something else. Most Coaches say they can work on everything and in today’s economy you need to step out of the crowd and be seen as someone different. By choosing one niche you can become an expert in the field and you will find that people will come to you for your expertise.

SO, Are you a business coach, a talent coach, a relationship coach, a youth coach???

2) The second biggest problem I find when people choose their niche is that rather than advertising ‘life coach’ services they advertise ‘relationship coaching’ services or their chosen niche services. The problem with this is that again as the general public, I don’t know what you can do for me. To be seen as an expert in your field you need to tell me what problems you will solve for me. I need to know why I would go to you and how what I will get from using your services. Rather than telling the general public that you are a ‘youth coach’ for example, you can tell them you specialize in helping young people gain more confidence at school or you help young people see how much they can achieve at XX, you fill in the blank.

3) A Coaching program does not show you how to build a successful practice or how to charge for your services or choose a Coach that works for you. Everyone needs a business mentor, someone who will keep them accountable, someone who has already achieve what it is you want to achieve. Once qualified, you need to learn the business part of this industry to insure that you can be more successful that 90% of others who try.

SMILE

Great big, ear-to-ear, open mouth smiles, are responsible for far more sizzling romances, salary increases, life extensions, and calorie burning than your dentists, doctors, and financial planners will ever comprehend.

A Creed to Live By

I saw this great poem by Nancy Simms and thought you all would love it.

———————————–

Don’t undermine your worth by comparing yourself to others. It is
because we are different that each of us is special.
Don’t set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you
know what is best for you.
Don’t take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them
as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.
Don’t let life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the
future. By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of
your life.
Don’t give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is
really over until the moment you stop trying.
Don’t be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect. It is this
fragile thread that binds us to each other.
Don’t be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we
learn to be brave.
Don’t shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find. The
quickest way to receive love is to give love. The fastest way to lose
love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give
it wings.
Don’t dismiss your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without
hope; to be without hope is to be without purpose.
Don’t run through life so fast that you forget not only where you’ve been, but also
where you are going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savoured each step of the way.

Personal Development

I am getting a few emails asking me for advice on how to get the most out of Personal Development and how to make it an integral part of the working day!
If you are reading this blog entry today, you are already focusing on developing yourself and probably getting something out of it to help motivate you, to help you learn more and to get you focused on making things better for yourself (whatever that means to you personally.
What I do every day is study the greats. I have bought so many books, so many audio programmes and I listen or ready every day. I make this really simple for myself. I want this to add to my day not to be another stress in my day. I find this to be the relaxing part of my day.

JUST ONE TIP!
————–
Each morning I head to the gym and listen to an every audio programme on the way there and the way back. In total (depending on traffic) this can take up to 20 minutes. I sometimes find just by listening to any audio programme will give me a great idea for my business, to make that day better or to help one of my clients.
It’s as easy and driving!!

If you have a dream …

Don’t wait for some distant day to come,
it may be too late before you’ve even begun.

Not everyone will agree with all you decide.
Be true to yourself first and foremost.

The only important thing in life is what you do
with the time you spend here on Earth.

Don’t be afraid to follow your desires,
they are not silly nor selfish.

Take the time and do what makes you feel alive.
Leave your fears and regrets in the past,
for this is where they belong.

Don’t cloud today with things that can’t be undone.
You have no more control over yesterday or tomorrow,
than you do the raging of your passions.

Do not quiet these dreams nor quench your desires.
For if you do, your journey is ended.

You have only today to begin anew and follow your dreams.
For in the end all we have are our memories.

When the twilight comes to us, let there be,
No excuses, no explanations, no regrets!

The best way of finishing something

Starting something, is the best way to finish something.
And just doing a teeny, tiny something, today,
anything, from wherever you are, is the best way
to start something.

Just Do It!

If you are finding that your not making progress as quickly as you want to. Don’t focus on the project. Take a bit of time out and then go back to planning. Step out of the box, to give you the chance to look in to it and re-organise.

New Date For 1-Day Sales Focus Day

27th June Dublin.

http://www.maftraining.com/training_1-dayBusiness.html

Here is what others had to say:

Momentum from day one
“Anne & Lynda, thank you so much for such a valuable and motivating day. I got great momentum from the day and had a very good week. I up sold a follow-on program with confidence to my coaching client, revamped my website significantly, decided on my niche and now I even have an office to work from (thanks Ita :-) .

Your course was a great bridge from coaching as a skill to coaching as a business and I can see where I need to focus now on building the business and promoting myself. I will happily provide a testimonial for your day, please use this email as you wish. Best of Luck & talk soon.”

Tom Walsh www.eclipsecoaching.com

I feel unstoppable:
“I booked your Sales Training session mainly to meet the person who has coached me so successfully over the past year.  I had absolutely no intention of doing anything by way of sales or increasing my Client Base as I have not yet qualified and am still dealing with Practice Clients.

However, my Practice Clients have progressed so well – due entirely to your enthusiastic coaching of me and motivated by the energy, enthusiasm and obvious success of your applied sales technique in your own business, I am now in the process of developing my own Website, Headed Paper and Business Cards.

Flyers have been distributed, new business and referrals are pouring in – more than I can possibly cope with, so be prepared for a batch of new client enquiries any day now, after I have had a chat with them.

Your Training Day was such a resounding success for me and your advice has given my confidence such a boost that I feel unstoppable.  Keep up the good work and well done to you and Lynda, you complement each other so well.

Thank you for the experience, it was like a breath of fresh air.  Just look at what you have started.

Looking forward to your next session, but don’t be surprised if I am too busy, just accept it as a compliment.”

Ellen Heatly.
